What's an accelerator?

A little rough math:

(Your company + our mentors + free office space + $ + focus + connections + support + collaboration + fun times) X 4 months = Oregon Story Board accelerator program

Companies that are accepted into the Oregon Story Board accelerator program focus their full attention on developing skills and building their network during the four month term of the accelerator.  For some, that represents a creative product development cycle, for others it's expanding into new territory in digital storytelling strategies.

Our program is built around the unique challenges of each of the accelerator companies. Imagine a custom business school for digital storytelling start-ups.

We're bringing together entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds with a common thread: Story. There's a story behind every business, and the story of the entrepreneurs that make it happen. Throughout the program, participants collaborate on goals, vision, ideas and execution.

Applications are now closed for the second class of the accelerator.

WHAT HAPPENS?

Our first accelerator class ran from September through December 2014. Following a competitive process, we brought together five early-stage, talented Oregon companies in our glass-walled OMSI space for four months.

Oregon Story Board staff helped uncover the challenges each company faced and curated a set of mentors to guide them. From accounting to project scope, pricing to social media, the companies worked together to solve problems they all faced as entrepreneurs.

Their stories were told at Demo Day on January 9th, 2015 at the Hollywood Theatre in front of an audience of investors, press, peers, clients, friends and family.

WHERE DO I FIT IN?

Oregon Story Board provides companies with capital to jumpstart their business, along with a strategy for getting the most from the money. We provide free office space, awesome mentorship and a strong, collaborative community of peers.

We're here to help! We want businesses to grow and thrive in Oregon to keep the talented creative workforce in our great state. We've tapped the experience of PIE and other technology accelerator programs to hone our approach while adapting to company needs. Our accelerator is a mash-up of that experience and the creative economy of film and video, animation and vfx, gaming, and digital media companies.
